The 43North Foundation today formally launched the Ambassador Network, a new corporate engagement initiative designed to connect Buffalo’s business community directly to the region’s growing startup and innovation ecosystem.

The announcement marks the official debut of the Foundation’s fourth strategic pillar.

The Ambassador Network brings together senior business leaders across Buffalo who are committed to participating in a curated menu of innovation opportunities, including startup investment, pilot programs, talent development, mentorship and strategic partnerships.

Inspired by successful business-led innovation movements in peer U.S. cities, the Ambassador Network is designed to create stronger, more coordinated connections between established companies and Buffalo’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

“The key to the Ambassador Network is that its participants are hand-delivered opportunities that help them become more competitive,” said John Gavigan, vice president of corporate connectivity for the 43North Foundation. “When we foster that ‘lean in’ philosophy, Buffalo will be in a position to truly become a thriving innovation economy."

More than 70 business leaders have already signed up.

Rather than requiring companies to independently navigate the region’s startup landscape, the Ambassador Network will serve as a centralized connector — identifying practical, high-value opportunities aligned with each organization’s goals and challenges.

The initiative is expected to drive engagement across the 43North Foundation’s broader strategy, including startup creation through Radial Ventures, talent attraction and retention through TechBuffalo, and ecosystem storytelling through Series B. The network will also collaborate with regional partners and other innovation-focused organizations.

Over the past 10 months, Gavigan has met with more than 200 senior business leaders across Buffalo to discuss the Foundation’s vision and identify meaningful pathways for engagement. Those conversations directly informed the development of the Ambassador Network.
