The 43North Foundation is thrilled to announce its Series B storytelling platform, which will be a bullhorn for the positive momentum in Buffalo’s innovation economy.
The strategy behind Series B was informed by best practices around the country, including places like Salt Lake City and Indianapolis, where coordinated and community-based storytelling around high-growth tech has been a powerful impetus for growth.
Series B represents one of the strategic investments being made by the Foundation, which was created from the proceeds of successful 43North portfolio companies.
“The 43North Foundation is a unique opportunity to reinvest Buffalo’s success back into the community – a symbol of the progress we’ve made and the tremendous opportunity ahead,” 43North Board Chairman William Maggio said. “When we studied how other ecosystems create positive impact, it became clear that Buffalo needs a venue to explain and celebrate that progress.”
The initial launch of the Series B website, http://seriesbuffalo.com, is expected to take place in the next few months. For now, that link redirects to the 43North Foundation website and this blog.
When live, Series B will be an outlet for authentic, constant stories about entrepreneurs, startup companies and progress in Buffalo. Led by experienced journalist Dan Miner, it will include contributors from Buffalo’s tech and entrepreneurship scene.

Startup companies raise their Series B round of funding after they’ve been through initial testing and validation and they’re ready for substantial growth.
Buffalo, in the meantime, has seen its high-growth innovation scene grow significantly over the past 15 years, with many proof points that companies can start, scale and stay here.
A new crop of funded, fast-growing startup companies is now spreading throughout the city, from software to medical devices to advanced manufacturing to CPG.
Buffalo’s next growth round has begun.
